F. Phillip Peche
F. Phillip Peche is a pilot and trial attorney focused on commercial transportation litigation, where he applies his experience as a highly decorated Marine Corps naval aviator to the firm’s cases, including military accident cases.
Before joining Wisner Baum as Of Counsel, Phillip litigated dozens of cases and taken 6 trials to verdict as lead trial counsel in cases involving slip and falls, auto accidents, and more. These were cases that very few other lawyers would take due to their challenging nature. During this time, he gained invaluable trial experience, resilience, and a reputation for taking any case to trial, no matter the defendant.
Phillip comes from a long lineage of military service, with at least one direct descendant who fought in every U.S. war since the American Revolution. He, too, answered the call to service and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.
During his service, Phillip flew medical evacuation (CASEVAC) flights, high-value target missions, and individual “zero dark thirty” helicopter raids during the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) era. Having been recognized for his heroic service as a combat pilot, Phillip was awarded the Air Medal with Combat V, and twelve Strike/Flight Air Medals, among others
After his last combat tour, Phillip decided to continue his service beyond the military as a civil plaintiff’s attorney. Using his Marine Corps and Navy training as an aviator, flight instructor, and aviation crash reconstructionist, he focused on complex cases involving product liability and negligence.
Early in his career, a client told Phillip the goal of her legal claim was to prevent another mother from having to bury her child because of a manufacturer’s dangerous aircraft and hazardous maneuver procedures. Phillip took the challenge, and together, they changed that aircraft manufacturer’s maneuver procedures. From that moment forward, Phillip has strived not only obtain a maximum recovery for families but also to advocate for change in order to prevent the same types of deadly aircraft crashes from happening again in the future.
Outside of his law practice, Phillip teaches courses in aviation law and litigation practice at the Southern California Safety Institute. He enjoys flying planes and helicopters, racing triathlons, skiing, soccer, yoga, and pickleball.
