Indianapolis Truck Crash Kills 23-Year-Old Man, Two Others Injured
September 8, 2016
A truck accident on the north side of Indianapolis left one person dead and two others with minor injuries on Thursday. The fatal accident, which involved three tractor-trailers and three passenger vehicles, was reported at around 4:40 a.m. on the northbound side of Interstate 69 near 96th Street.
According to Indiana State Police officials, the sequence of events leading up to the fatal Indianapolis truck crash started with construction crews closing northbound lanes of Interstate 69 to set a bridge beam at 106th Street. During the lane closure, a crash occurred involving a passenger vehicle and a box truck. Both vehicles caught fire in the crash, but no one was seriously injured.
That crash and the lane closures were soon followed by the fatal chain-reaction crash. Officials say 23-year-old Jaspreet Darar was an occupant in one of three cars involved in the Indianapolis truck crash. By the time emergency responders arrived, there was nothing that could be done for Darar, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passenger vehicle drivers were hospitalized with minor injuries, according to Fox 59.
The cause of the fatal truck accident is still under the investigation of law enforcement. As of now, no charges have been filed.

The driver of the dump truck, later identified as 25-year-old Jared Crump of Greenwood, Indiana, died from injuries sustained in the accident. Crump’s passenger, 21-year-old Nathan Davis of Indianapolis, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Eskenazi Hospital. The driver of the tractor-trailer was unharmed in the accident.
