Traffic accidents remain a leading cause of death in the United States, with many of our cities and suburbs built with cars, not public transportation, in mind. Due to high speed limits and the presence of vehicles of all sizes and types, highways are particularly dangerous. Data has shown that highways tend to be our nation’s deadliest roads.
So, what is America’s most dangerous highway? According to data from Teletrac Navman, Florida’s Interstate 4 (I-4) running from Tampa to Daytona Beach is the most dangerous. Between 2016 and 2019, 150 people died in traffic accidents on this stretch of road. Orlando saw the most fatalities during this time with 11 reported.
