Baum Hedlund Aristei & Goldman Expands with Opening of Bay Area Office

December 22, 2021 – San Francisco, California - - Baum Hedlund Aristei & Goldman is pleased to announce the opening of its Bay Area office located in the city of Larkspur. The new Northern California office is one of several the firm operates in California and throughout the nation.

Senior shareholder and firm vice president R. Brent Wisner manages Baum Hedlund’s Northern California office. Wisner continues to handle mass torts, class actions, and consumer fraud cases for the firm while overseeing his highly-trained team.

“Adding a Bay Area office is something our firm has wanted to do for a long time,” Wisner says. “Anytime you have the opportunity to help more people and do more good, you jump in with both feet. This new office is one of those opportunities and we look forward to continuing our work with Bay Area clients, peers, and the community.”

With the firm’s expansion into the Bay Area, Wisner and his colleagues hope to build on recent success in Northern California cases. In 2019, Wisner was co-lead counsel in a jury trial before Judge Smith in Alameda County. He and his team earned a $2.055 billion jury verdict in Pilliod et al. v. Monsanto Company, one of the largest verdicts in recent history.

In 2018, Wisner co-tried the case of Johnson v. Monsanto Company. A San Francisco jury awarded the plaintiff $289 million in damages. While both verdicts were later reduced, they laid the groundwork for $10.9 billion in settlements between Bayer (which acquired Monsanto in 2018) and several leading firms representing plaintiffs in cases against Monsanto (including Baum Hedlund).

As the firm looks forward to 2022, Wisner and his colleagues have turned their attention to the Zantac cancer litigation and the heavy metals in baby food litigation. Baum Hedlund is a leading firm representing plaintiffs in both mass torts, and Wisner says both Zantac and baby food will have trials in the coming year.
