Parents may be wondering “Well, how do I know which baby food brands to avoid?”
There are a couple of resources parents can turn to. One of the resources is the Congressional Report published in February of 2021, which lists the following baby food companies that make products containing “dangerously high levels” of heavy metals:
Nurture Inc. – Happy Family Organics and HappyBABY
Gerber
Sprout Foods Inc.
Plum Organics
Hain Celestial Group Inc. – Earth’s Best Organic
Walmart Inc. – Parent’s Choice
Another resource parents can turn to is a report by an organization known as Healthy Babies Bright Futures, which published a study in 2019 detailing the baby food products on the U.S. market that contain the highest amounts of toxic heavy metals, as well as baby food brands that contain little to no toxic heavy metals.
Is organic baby food safe from heavy metals?
Parents are feeding their children organic baby foods thinking that they are going to be safer because they have the organic label on them. Unfortunately, that’s just not the case. The Congressional Report found that organic baby food also contains substantial quantities of toxic heavy metals.
What other choices do parents have when it comes to feeding their children?
Pediatricians recommend that parents feed children a diverse diet of home-cooked meals and minimize reliance on pre-packaged foods containing heavy metals.
