Air France Flight 447 departed from Rio de Janeiro’s Galeao International Airport with 228 souls on board, bound for Paris. Four hours into the flight, the Airbus A330 encountered heavy storms and turbulence, then later sent out an automatic message reporting electrical failure.
“The notion that an airplane, particularly a passenger jetliner would fly into a thunderstorm is absolutely unheard of,” says Goldman, who is no stranger to aviation disaster litigation.
