During the initial investigations into the cause of the crash, it became apparent that the plane did not fall from the sky, but instead dived. Before the black boxes were even recovered, KCAL9 invited aviation attorney and former commercial air captain, John Greaves to discuss what radar of the plane showed.
The investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) would eventually reveal that the plane’s descent was indeed caused by the actions of the first officer and that in the last moments of EgyptAir Flight 990, the captain on board was attempting to reverse the flight commands while the first officer kept his controls pointed down.
